After his victory over Leonid 300, the Persian army led by Xerxes' march to the main Greek city states. Democratic city of Athens, the first in the path of Xerxes army bases its strength on its fleet, led by Admiral Themistocles. Themistocles forced unwitting alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, the oligarchic Sparta whose strength is his beautiful infantry. But Xerxes still dominates in number over sea and land. |
